| It is now generally
accepted in the marine trade, that total removal of the gelcoat is the most
important first stage for an osmosis treatment. Using a stripping / peeling
hand held machine is the most accurate and cost effective system.
The Gelstripper was designed and manufactured for Gelstrip's (sister company) own use in 1989, and has since stripped thousands of boats around the world. Using the Gelstripper, both the antifoul and gelcoat, can be planed off in one process, leaving a smooth and fair finish. The Gelstripper is easily manoeuvrable which allows the operator to get to those awkward parts of a hull, such as spray rails, and in between bilge keels of a yacht. Using a high powered vacuum system waste is collected at the cutting head and sucked away into a container for environmentally friendly disposal. Therefore the Gelstripper can be used both inside, and outside of a boatshed. Gelstrip and Gelstrip International Trading company provide both the service and the product, we also have the expertise to offer a training service if required. The Gelstripper can also be used for removing large areas of laminate for structural repairs. This enables the repair to be prepared in an accurate and more exact manner compared to grinding, it is quicker and gives a stronger result to the repair. The antifoul and paint systems of most wooden boats can be taken off in an accurate way. Using the Gelstripper on wood leaves planks fair, ensures that caulking is not damaged, fastenings will be exposed, and shows if any planks are suspect. |
